Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions
• Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery.
• Before taking Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®), you have to tell your doctor if you have liver disease, or a personal or family history of Long QT syndrome.
Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning
• The serious side effects of Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) include blurred vision or temporary blindness, slow heart rate, trouble breathing, anxiety, agitation, shivering, feeling light-headed, or fainting, and urinating less than usual or not at all.
• Do not take Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) if you have hypersensitivity reactions or to similar medicines.
• Notify your doctor or your pharmacist if the effects persist or worsen.
• Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.
Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) Dosage and Administration
• The first dose of Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) is usually taken 30 minutes before the start of chemotherapy, 1 to 2 hours before the start of radiation therapy, or 1 hour before surgery.
• Additional doses of Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) are sometimes taken one to three times a day during chemotherapy or radiation therapy and for 1 to 2 days after the end of treatment.
• Ondansetron (Generic Zofran®) can be taken with or without food with a full glass of water.
