Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions
This is used to prevent difficulty breathing, chest tightness, wheezing and coughing caused by asthma. This is also used to prevent bronchospasm (breathing difficulties) during exercise, used to treat the symptoms of seasonal (occurs only at certain times of the year), and perennial (occurs all year round) allergic rhinitis (a condition associated with sneezing and stuffy, runny or itchy nose). If you are taking this to treat asthma, continue to take or use all other medications that your doctor has prescribed to treat your asthma.
Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning
This has been generally well tolerated. Side effects, like hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, angioedema, pruritus, and urticaria and very rarely hepatic eosinophilic infiltration), dream abnormalities, drowsiness, irritability, and restlessness which usually were mild, generally did not require discontinuation of therapy. Notify your doctor if any undesirable effects are experienced while taking the medication. Inform your doctor your medical history and all the medications you are currently on and have previously taken. This product is not recommended to be taken by patients during pregnancy or by nursing mothers. Do not use this to treat a sudden attack of asthma symptoms. Your doctor will prescribe a short-acting inhaler to use during attacks. If your asthma symptoms get worse or if you have asthma attacks more often, be sure to call your doctor.
Dosage and Administration
Adult 15years and above: 10mg
Children 6-14yrs: 5mg chewable
2-5yrs: 4mg chewable or 4mg
All doses are usually taken once a day with or without food. When this is used to treat asthma, it should be taken in the evening, when to prevent breathing difficulties during exercise, it should be taken at least 2 hours before exercise. If you are taking this once a day on a regular basis, you should not take an additional dose before exercising. When used to treat allergic rhinitis, it may be taken at any time of day. Take this at around the same time every day and take it exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Important
Do not stop or change the doses of any of your medications unless your doctor tells you that you should. This controls the symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis but does not cure these conditions. Continue this even if you feel well. Do not stop without talking to your doctor.
