Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

• Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) is used in men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH), which include difficulty urinating (hesitation, dribbling, weak stream, and incomplete bladder emptying), painful urination, and urinary frequency and urgency.
• Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) also is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure.


Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

• You should know that Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting when you get up too quickly from a lying position.
• Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) is more common when you first start taking Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®), when your dose is increased, or when treatment with Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) is stopped for several days and then restarted.
• To avoid this problem, get out of bed slowly, resting your feet on the floor for a few minutes before standing up.
• If you experience these symptoms, sit or lie down. If these symptoms do not improve, call your doctor.
• Drowsiness is also commonly associated with Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®).
• Use Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) with caution especially when performing tasks that may require physical and mental alertness such as driving and operating machinery.



Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) Dosage and Administration

• Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) is available as 2mg and 5mg tablets.
• Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) is usually taken with or without food once a day at bedtime or twice a day.
• Take Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) exactly as directed.
• Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.


Important

• Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) controls high blood pressure and the symptoms of BPH but does not cure them.
• Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) may take 4 to 6 weeks or longer before you feel the full benefit of terazosin for BPH.
• Continue Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) even if you feel well.
• Do not stop taking Terazosin (Generic Hytrin®) without talking to your doctor.
