Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

This is used together with lifestyle changes (diet, weight-loss, exercise) to reduce the amount of cholesterol (a fat-like substance) and other fatty substances in your blood. This is used to lower cholesterol in people who have high levels either due to genetics (familial hypercholesterolaemia) or as a result of diet and lifestyle. This helps to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, angina and heart attacks (coronary heart disease). You should eat a diet that is low in saturated fat and cholesterol, exercise 30 minutes on most, if not all days, and lose weight if you are overweight.

Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to it or any other medications. Do not forget to tell your doctor and pharmacist your medical history, what other prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take. This may occasionally have side effects on the muscles. For this reason, you should inform your doctor immediately if you experience any unexplained muscular symptoms, such as pain, tenderness, cramps or weakness, while taking this medicine. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Dosage and Administration

It usually is taken one to three times a day. Take at around the same time(s) every day and take it exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
