Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

• Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) is used with a diet and exercise program and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood).
• Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) should not be used in children younger than 18 years old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.

Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

• Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) or any other medications.
• Do not forget to tell your doctor and pharmacist the other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take.
• You may experience hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) if you are taking Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) in combination with other medications used to treat diabetes.
• To be sure Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) is helping your condition, your blood will need to be tested on a regular basis.
• Your liver function may also need to be tested, and you may need regular eye exams. Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) may cause other side effects.
• Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while you are taking Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®).
• Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®). Alcohol lowers blood sugar and may increase the risk of hypoglycaemia whilst on Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®).

Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) Dosage and Administration

• Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) is usually taken once daily with or without meals.
• Take Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) at around the same time every day and take exactly as directed.
• Do not take Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) Important

• It is important to use Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) regularly to get the most benefit.
• Get your prescription refilled before you run out completely.
• Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) control type II diabetes but do not cure it.
• Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) may take 2 weeks for your blood sugar to decrease and several weeks longer for you to feel the full effect.
• Continue taking Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) even if you feel well.
• Do not stop Pioglitazone (Generic Actos®) without talking to your doctor.
