Administration
• Oral Acyclovir (Generic Zovirax) can be taken with water, with or without food.
• Take Oral Acyclovir (Generic Zovirax) at around the same time every day and take exactly as directed.

Acyclovir (Generic Zovirax) tablets - Acyclovir 400mg and Acyclovir 800mg

Recommended anti-herpes dosage of Acyclovir (Generic Zovirax):

• For Initial Genital Herpes
Acyclovir 400mg every 8hrs 3 x a day for 10 days as directed
Acyclovir 800mg once or twice a day for 10 days as directed

• For Recurrent Genital Herpes
a. Suppressive therapy:
Acyclovir 400mg 2x day for 5 days as directed
Acyclovir 800mg once a day for 5 days as directed

b. Intermittent Therapy:
Acyclovir 400mg every 8hrs for 5days at earliest signs of symptom recurrence as directed
Acyclovir 800mg once a day for 5days as directed

• For Herpes Zoster
Usual dose is Acyclovir 800mg every 4hrs 5x a day for 7-10 days as directed

• For Chicken Pox
Adults and children: 20mg/kg/dose (maximum Acyclovir 800mg/day) 4x/day for 5 days as directed
