Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) Usage, Directions and Indication
• Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) is used to prevent and treat wheezing, difficulty breathing and chest tightness caused by lung diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
• Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) is also sometimes used to treat or improve muscle paralysis (inability to move parts of the body) in patients with a condition that causes attacks of paralysis.
Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning
• You should inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) or any other medications, your medical history, the prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking.
• You should know that the most common side effects of Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) are of fine tremor, nervousness, headache, muscle cramps, dry mouth, and palpitation. Other symptoms of Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) may be tachycardia (rapid heart rate), arrhythmias, flushing, myocardial ischaemia, and disturbances of sleep and behaviour.
• Rarely occuring, but of importance, are allergic reactions of paradoxical bronchospasm, urticaria, angioedema, hypotension, and collapse, whilst high doses may cause hypokalaemia (low potassium levels).
• Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) sometimes causes wheezing and difficulty breathing immediately after it is inhaled. If this happens, call your doctor right away.
• Do not use Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) when you are near a flame or source of heat. Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) inhaler may explode if it is exposed to very high temperatures.
Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) Dosage and Administration
• Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) comes in canisters where it is designed to provide 200 inhalations.
• Throw Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) away after you have used the labeled number of inhalations.
• To use Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®), follow these:
• Remove the protective dust cap from the end of the mouthpiece and check the mouthpiece for dirt or other objects.
• Be sure that the canister is fully and firmly inserted in the mouthpiece.
• If you are using Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) inhaler for the first time or if you have not used the inhaler in more than 14 days, you will need to prime it.
• You may also need to prime Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) inhaler if it has been dropped.
• To prime Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) inhaler, shake well and then press down on the canister 4 times to release 4 sprays into the air, away from your face.
• Be careful not to get it in your eyes. Shake it well. Breathe out as completely as possible through your mouth.
• Hold Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) with the mouthpiece on the bottom, facing you and the canister pointing upward.
• Place the open end of the Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) mouthpiece into your mouth and close your lips tightly around the mouthpiece.
• Breathe in slowly and deeply through the mouthpiece while pressing it down once on the container to spray the medication into your mouth.
• Try to hold your breath for 10 seconds, remove Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) and breathe out slowly.
• If you were told to use 2 puffs, wait 1 minute and then repeat steps 3-7.
Salbutamol (Generic Ventolin®) Important
• Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) controls symptoms of asthma and other lung diseases but does not cure them.
• Do not stop using Salbutamol (Generic Airomir®) without talking to your doctor.
