Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) Usage, Directions and Indication
• Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia and infections of the ears, lungs, throat, urinary tract, and skin.
• Absorption of Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) is reduced by antacids; therefore antacids should not be taken at the same time.
Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning
• It is important that you inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) or any other medications.
• Inform your doctor about other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking.
• Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) may cause side effects like diarrhea. Inform your doctor if this symptom is severe or does not go away.
• Some side effects can be serious like severe skin rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing or swallowing, wheezing, joint pain, fever, painful sores in the mouth or throat, vaginal itching and discharge. If you experience any of these, call your doctor immediately.
Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) Dosage and Administration
• Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) is usually taken every 8 hours (three times a day) or every 12 hours (twice a day) and should be swallowed whole and taken with a full glass of water.
• To help you remember to taket, take Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) around the same time every day and exactly as directed. Do not take more or less or take more often than prescribed by your doctor.
• If you missed a dose, take as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) regular dosing schedule.
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Important
• Take Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) until you finish the prescription, even if you feel better.
• Stopping Cefaclor (Generic Ceclor®) too soon may cause bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics.
