Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) is used to treat and prevent episodes of mania (frenzied, abnormally excited mood) and in people with bipolar disorder (manic depressive disorder; a disease that causes episodes of depression, episodes of mania, and other abnormal moods).
• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) is also sometimes used to treat certain blood disorders, depression and schizophrenia (a mental illness that causes disturbed or unusual thinking.
• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) is also sometimes used to treat loss of interest in life, and strong or inappropriate emotions.
• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) is also sometimes used to treat disorders of impulse control (inability to resist the urge to perform a harmful action), and certain mental illnesses in children.

Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) may cause allergic ractions.
• Tell your doctor if any of these Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) symptoms are severe or do not go away such as restlessness, fine hand movements that are difficult to control, loss of appetite, stomach pain or bloating, gas indigestion and weight gain or loss.
• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms.
• Inform your doctor your medical history and all the medications you are currently on and have previously taken.
• Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) affects you.
• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) should not be taken by patients younger than 18 years of age, during pregnancy or by nursing mothers.

Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) Dosage and Administration

• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) tablets or capsules are usually taken three to four times a day.
• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) extended-release tablets are usually taken two to three times a day.
• Take Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) at around the same time every day and take exactly as directed.
• Do not take Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Important

• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) may help to control your condition but will not cure it.
• Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) may take 1-3 weeks or longer for you to feel the full benefit.
• Continue Lithium Carbonate (Generic Eskalith®) treatment even if you feel well and do not stop without talking to your doctor.
