Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

• Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) is used in men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH) which include difficulty urinating (hesitation, dribbling, weak stream, and incomplete bladder emptying), painful urination, and urinary frequency and urgency.

Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

• Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) or any other medications.
• Do not forget to tell your doctor and pharmacist what other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take.
• Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. You may feel dizzy when getting up from a sitting or lying position.
• Stop using Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) and call your doctor at once if you have severe light-headedness or fainting, or if you have an erection of your penis that is painful or lasts longer than 4 hours rash, itching, hives, swelling of the eyes, face, tongue, lips, throat, arms, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs.
• Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase dizziness caused by Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®).
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur.
• Talk to your doctor about any side effect of Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) Dosage and Administration

• Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) is usually taken once a day.
• Take Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) 30 minutes after the same meal each day with a full glass of water and take it exactly as directed.
• Do not take Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
• Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) and may increase your dose after 2 to 4 weeks.
• Do not take a double dose of Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) to make up for a missed one.

Important

• Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) may help control your condition, but it will not cure it. Continue to take it even if you feel well.
• Do not stop taking Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) without talking to your doctor.
• Tamsulosin (Generic Flomax®) should not be used by women or children.
