Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®) Usage, Directions and Indication
• Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®)is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia and infections of the ears, lungs, throat, urinary tract, and skin.
• Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®) is also used to treat infections of the upper and lower airways, ears, skin and soft tissue. And it may also be used to treat certain sexually-transmitted infections, bone and joint infections and dental infections.
• Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®) is also sometimes used to treat acne.
Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning
• Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®) should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.
• It is important you tell your doctor or pharmacist what medicines you are already taking, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you start treatment with Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®).
• If any symptoms of side-effects are experienced that will not go away like upset stomach, diarrhea, vomiting or mild to severe skin rash, hives or wheezing, call your doctor immediately.
Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®) Dosage and Administration
• Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®) is usually taken every 6 hours (four times a day) or every 12 hours (twice a day) for 7-10 days.
• Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®)may cause an upset stomach so take it with food or milk. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
• Take Cephalexin (Generic Keflex®) exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Important
• Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.
• Your prescription is probably not refillable. If you still have symptoms of infection after you finish it, call your doctor.
