Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

• Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) is used in the treatment and prevention of breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body in men and women.
• Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) may also be used short-term (less than one year) to treat girls age 2 -10 years of age who have premature puberty, McCune-Albright Syndrome (a condition that may cause bone disease, early sexual development, and dark colored spots on the skin in children).
• Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) is also used sometimes to induce ovulation (egg production) in women who do not produce eggs but wish to become pregnant.

Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

• Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) or any other medications.
• Do not forget to tell your doctor and pharmacist your medical history, what other prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take.
• Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) may cause cancer of the uterus (womb), strokes, and blood clots in the lungs.
• These conditions may be serious or fatal. Nausea, hot flashes, weight gain or headache may occur.
• If these side effects of Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.
• Report promptly if experienced like abnormal vaginal bleeding or irregular periods, vaginal discharge, groin pain, vision changes. Unlikely but report promptly: vomiting, rash.
• Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects of Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) occur: dark urine, yellowing eyes and skin, easy bruising, persistent sore throat, fever, mental or mood changes, trouble breathing, unusual tiredness, leg pain or swelling, dizziness.
• If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) Dosage and Administration

• Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) is usually taken once or twice a day with or without food.
• If you are taking Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) to prevent breast cancer, you will probably take Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) for five years otherwise your doctor will decide how long your Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex®) treatment will last.
