About Vardenafil

Vardenafil (Generic Levitra®) is in a class of medications called phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. This increased blood flow can cause an erection.

Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

This is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence; inability to get or keep an erection) in men.

Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to it or any other medications. Do not forget to tell your doctor and pharmacist your medical history, what other prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take. Some side-effects you may experience are headache, upset stomach, heartburn, and flushing, stuffy or runny nose, flu-like symptoms. Notify your doctor if these will not go away. Some patients experienced a sudden loss of some or all of their vision and a sudden decrease or loss of hearing, sometimes with ringing in the ears or dizziness after they took this. The vision loss was permanent in some cases. It is not known if the vision loss and loss of hearing was caused by the medication. If you experience these, call your doctor immediately. Do not take any more doses.

Dosage and Administration

This is usually taken as needed, with or without food, 60 minutes before sexual activity. This usually should not be taken more often than once every 24 hours. If you have certain health conditions or are taking certain medications, your doctor may tell you to take less often. Your doctor will probably start you on an average dose and increase or decrease your dose depending on your response to the medication.

Important

This does not cure erectile dysfunction or increase sexual desire and does not prevent pregnancy or the spread of sexually transmitted diseases such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
