Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions
• Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) is used to treat major depressive disorder and seasonal affective disorder.
• At least one brand of Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®), Zyban®) is used to help people stop smoking by reducing cravings and other withdrawal effects.
• Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) is also sometimes used to treat episodes of depression in patients with bipolar disorder (manic depressive disorder; a disease that causes episodes of depression, episodes of mania, and other abnormal moods)
• Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD; more difficulty focusing, controlling actions, and remaining still or quiet than other people who are the same age).
• Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) may also be used in treating obesity at 400 mg per day.
• Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning
• Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) or any other medications.
• Do not forget to tell your doctor and pharmacist the other prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take.
• Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) may cause side effects, tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: drowsiness, excitement, dry mouth, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, uncontrollable shaking of a part of the body, weight loss, constipation and excessive sweating.
Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) Dosage and Administration
• The Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) regular tablet is usually taken three or four times a day, with doses at least 6 hours apart.
• The Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) sustained-release tablet is usually taken twice a day, with doses at least 8 hours apart.
• The Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) extended-release tablet is usually taken once daily in the morning.
• When Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) is used to treat seasonal affective disorder, it is usually taken once a day in the morning beginning in the early fall, continuing through the winter, and stopping in the early spring.
• Sometimes a lower dose of Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) is taken for 2 weeks before stopping.
• Take Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) with food if the medication upsets your stomach.
Important
• Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) may take 4 weeks or longer before you feel the full.
• Continue taking Bupropion (Generic Wellbutrin®) even if you feel well.
• Do not stop without talking to your doctor. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.
