Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

This is used to treat or prevent certain infections caused by bacteria. This is also used to treat or prevent anthrax in people who may have been exposed to anthrax germs in the air. This should not normally be given to children younger than 18 years of age unless they have certain serious infections that cannot be treated with other antibiotics or they have been exposed to anthrax in the air.

Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

This should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. You may experience diarrhoea, feeling sick (nausea), may cause vomiting, indigestion, stomach-ache, wind, difficulty in swallowing, loss of appetite and skin rashes. An allergic reaction can appear as a rash, hives, and itching, small red spots on the skin or a fever. This may increase nervousness, sleeplessness, heart pounding, and anxiety caused by caffeine. If you experience any of these symptoms, stop the treatment and seek medical advice immediately.

Dosage and Administration

Usual dose is 250-500mg 2x/day in the morning and evening, with or without food. Do not take this with dairy products or calcium-fortified juices alone. The length of your treatment depends on the type of infection you have. If your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse, call your doctor.

Important

Take until you finish the prescription, even if you feel better. If you stop taking too soon or if you skip doses, your infection may not be completely treated and the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics.
