Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

This is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to treat heart failure in people who cannot take angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. To be sure this medication is helping your condition; your blood pressure will need to be checked on a regular basis.

Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat feeling light-headed, fainting or fast or pounding heartbeats.
Do not use if you are allergic to it, or if you are unable to urinate. Before using, inform your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have kidney disease or liver disease. Avoid drinking alcohol. It can lower your blood pressure and may increase some of the side effects. This may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while taking this medication. Do not take this if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant while taking, call your doctor immediately, this may harm the fetus.

Dosage and Administration

For the treatment of high blood pressure, it is usually taken once a day with or without food with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. For the treatment of heart failure, it is usually taken twice a day with or without food. To help you remember to take, take it around the same time every day.

Important

If you are being treated for high blood pressure, keep using this medication even if you feel fine. Continue to take even if you feel well, don’t stop without talking to your doctor.
