Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

• Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) is used to treat ulcers; gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the food pipe (esophagus); and conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
• Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) is sometimes used in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, the bacteria that cause ulcers.


Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

• You should inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) or any other medications.
• Do not forget to mention to your doctor and pharmacist the other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking.
• Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) may cause side effects like stomach pain and diarrhea.
• Tell your doctor if either of these symptoms is severe or does not go away.



Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) Dosage and Administration

• Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) is usually taken once a day, before eating.
• When Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) is taken in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) is taken twice a day (every 12 hours) or three times a day (every 8 hours) for 10 to 14 days.
• To help you remember to take Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®), take it around the same time every day and take exactly as directed.
• Do not take Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.



Important

• Continue taking Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) even if you feel well.
• Do not stop Lansoprazole (Generic Prevacid®) without talking to your doctor.
