Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions

The is used to treat ulcers; gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the food pipe (esophagus); and conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This is sometimes used in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, the bacteria that cause ulcers.

Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning

You should inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to it or any other medications. Do not forget to mention to your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. This may cause side effects like stomach pain and diarrhea. Tell your doctor if either of these symptoms is severe or does not go away.

Dosage and Administration

This is usually taken once a day, before eating. When taken in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, this is taken twice a day (every 12 hours) or three times a day (every 8 hours) for 10 to 14 days. To help you remember to take it, take it around the same time every day and take it exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
